In-Salon Treatment:  New Age ‘Peel & Heal’             

Successfully reduces the pores, controls oil secretion without exacerbating telangiectasia.  With acne or inflammatory rosacea the peel has an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial effect helping treat and prevent congestion and acne, often associated with rosacea.  Natural AHAs and BHAs.

Broken Capillaries What to do and when to peel?

NOTE:  These show sensitivity in that particular area and should therefore not be over-stimulated. We have found that by building up and thickening the skin in those areas the capillaries become less visible or disappear in certain cases. It is suggested that these areas are treated using either Quantum Elastin Dermal Regenerator or Scar Repair morning and night along with the home care essentials prior to ‘Peel & Heal’. The ‘Peel & Heal’ may be applied to the rest of the skin in the interim if so desired.

Monitoring of the skin

It is advisable, especially as one gets older, or if one has been suffering from a particular skin problem eg. Pigmentation, acne etc. to have the skin checked on a regular basis by a doctor or skin care professional. If one does suffer from a particular skin problem it is recommended that one take a photograph of the face prior to commencing the treatment range. This is always good for comparison later.

Care During Pregnancy

Pigmentation?

Pigmentation affects so many people for a variety of reasons. If the cause can be established and eliminated (eg. Pregnancy, the Pill or dehydrating alcohol based cosmetic products stopped) then one has a chance of removing the problem. Skins prone to pigmentation must be extremely careful when considering certain treatments such as laser or certain deep peels. These can exacerbate an already distressing problem. (One must accept the advice of a doctor specializing in laser therapy, with regards lasering or deep peeling of a pigmented skin).

The New Age ‘Peel & Heal’ (See under Peel & Heal section for full details), because of the unique formulation, has proven to be safe and effective for the treatment of pigmentation in combination with our home care essentials.

The problem of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can affect anyone.  This can occur, especially if not treated correctly, post laser, dermabrasion, trauma.  We at RegimA have dealt extensively with this problem on behalf of the plastic surgeons with in-salon ‘Peel & Heal’ treatments and home care products.

The RegimA New Age ‘Peel & Heal’ has for years been renowned for the safe and successful treatment of pigmentation with leading plastic surgeons and salon professionals.  This is an in-rooms and in-salon treatment.  The treatment of pigmentation must not be aggressive if one is to eliminate and prevent further recurrence.  A series of ‘Peel & Heal’ treatments is recommended.  These treatments are maintained with RegimA home care.  RegimA ‘Peel & Heal’ safely and effectively helps eliminate pigmentation in all age groups, even the very young, all skin types, even very sensitive, black, white, Asian, male and female.

The safest, most effective treatment of pigmentation is Vitamin C.  However, Vitamin C comes in many forms, the most potent being L-Ascorbic Acid.

L – Ascorbic Acid (Vit C)  -   Treatment of Hyperpigmentation & Anti-Ageing

The only truly beneficial form of Vitamin C which has the ability to act on the dermis (true, living skin) is L-Ascorbic.  Other vitamin C derivatives may be found as vitamin C ester, ascorbyl palmitate and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate etc.  The derivatives are easier to stabilize so they are the ones generally to be found in over the counter cosmetic products.  However, they are unable to work any deeper than the epidermis (outer horny, dead layer).  Studies have shown that derivatives with a neutral or more alkaline pH are not absorbed.  Research shows that in studies comparing L-Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbyl Palmitate, the latter was ineffective in comparison.  For any of these derivatives to have any impact on the skin they would have to be in extremely high concentrations to have a similar potency.  If ascorbyl palmitate is used within a topical cream it would have to be in excess of 20% concentration to be effective in the deeper layers.   Manufacturers have, in certain cases, substituted vitamin C derivatives, esters in an attempt to solve the problem of product stability.  In order for any of these compounds to work they must penetrate the skin and then be chemically converted by the skin cells into L-Ascorbic Acid. 

Scientific studies show that for vitamin C to be beneficial to the skin it MUST be in the form of L-Ascorbic Acid as it is the only form the body can recognize.  It must be in this active form and MUST be at a low, acid pH (acidic) to achieve skin penetration as the skin is an excellent barrier protecting against outside substances entering the body. In this way higher levels of ascorbic acid can be targeted directly to the skin by topical application, that cannot be achieved by diet.   L-Ascorbic acid is the only form of vitamin C that can be utilized by the body and provides photoprotection, prevents UV immunosuppression, a reaction which occurs in more than 90% of skin cancer patients.  Studies have shown that Vitamin C is the only antioxidant proven to stimulate collagen synthesis.  Collagen is the main protein of skin and continued synthesis is essential to maintain a healthy skin as collagen decreases with age and sun damage. This is achieved by neutralizing reactive oxygen free-radicals, the highly reactive molecules produced when sunlight interacts with cell membranes and other skin tissue.  It is therefore an aid to sunscreens. Once topical L-Ascorbic  has penetrated the skin it cannot be washed off and the effectiveness is not reduced by perspiration and has been found to stay in the skin for upto 72 hours.  We read about the reservoir effect.  This means that L-Ascorbic Acid applied topically to the skin (essentially at the perfect low pH level) remains active within the skin for 3 days.

L-Ascorbic is a powerful antioxidant, protecting the skin against, and reducing, harmful effects caused by UVA and UVB rays. It is capable of controlling the inflammatory response associated with ultraviolet light (helping to prevent sunburn) as well as being protective when applied after sun exposure.  It speeds  up the healing process.  Topical application of L-Ascorbic Acid is helpful in speeding the healing process.  It is recommended as a post-operative regimen for laser resurfacing patients.   RégimA uses high percentages within the Pre and Post Laser treatment regime.  It is known for its action on melanocytes and helps prevent hyperpigmentation, sometimes associated with laser treatment.  This form of vitamin C has been shown to decrease the degree and duration of post CO2 laser erythema (reddening).  It has also been seen to have an impact on stretch marks.

A major reason for RégimA using L-Ascorbic Acid is the fact it has been proven to be effective not only as a preventative, but also as a  treatment of hyperpigmentation.  Clinically it has a therapeutic effect and has been used extensively in trials for the treatment of pigmentation anomalies, due to the action of effecting reversion of the process of forming melanin.  It has a ‘bleaching” effect on the skin.  Clinical studies show that vitamin C ester may also help with superficial chloasma (pigmentation) which is epidermal.

Oily / Problem Skin?

Oily skins generally present with blackheads, white heads and a variety of lesions which, unless treated, lead to more serious problems such as cysts and boils. The combination of oil and skin cells allows bacteria to develop within the follicles, resulting in inflammation, redness, swelling, pain. If not controlled, results long-term in post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation and scarring.

Exfoliation is extremely important in an oily skin to unplug blocked pores.  Unfortunately clients with oily skins are under the wrong impression that their skins are dirty so they tend to scrub problematic areas prone to blackheads, causing damage. Harsh abrasives cause adulteration of the skin, exacerbate an oily problem, cause inflammation, with resultant pigmentation. If the oily skin is also problematic then harsh abrasives can lead to spreading of infection and scarring.

The low pH (acidity) of RégimA helps to control externally the problems associated with a problem or acneform skin by destroying most skin bacteria which are the main cause of inflammation and cross infection.  Many active ingredients known for their acne combating properties, are used to help clear blackheads, refine the pores and have a leveling effect on acne scarring. Face Treatments – Thinking of having surgery ?

SCARS – The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Are RégimA products safe?

YES.  There are many powerful NATURAL ingredients within the treatment range but all are safe to use by all age groups and even during pregnancy.  The only product NOT to be used by pregnant or lactating women would be the Curve Contour Cellulite Controller.

How long should one use RégimA?

The RégimA Skin Treatment Programme can and should be used indefinitely. It is the most effective range and can be used long term safely.  As one gets older the body’s cell renewal process is more sluggish and so we tend to develop one problem or another. One can help eliminate these problems and maintain as perfect a skin as possible with RégimA.

Does RegimA use animal ingredients or do we test on animals?

We wish to state quite categorically that we DO NOT use any animal derived ingredients whatsoever, we never test on animals and refuse to use raw materials that have been tested on animals. 

Always ask where ingredients have been derived from – You may get a shock 

It must be noted that we are not introducing collagen into the Collagen III Booster but, with the aid of a new slow release delivery system, a specialized tripeptide stimulates the body to produce healthy, youthful collagen. We do not use collagen as an ingredient because collagen is a protein that is too large a molecule to penetrate the skin so it just sits on the surface and therefore has NO therapeutic action.  Also, collagen used in cosmetics is mostly of animal origin.  One must always ask from which source collagen has been obtained as this is usually from cows/calves in the slaughter houses.  Animal proteins may also contain viruses such as mad cow disease!! (Many countries now ban any animal derived proteins because of this health risk). The same applies for any extracts that may be described as amniotic fluid, placenta (whose?), elastin (is it from horse?), DNA, colostrum, tissue extracts (whose tissue and which tissue?), hyaluronic acid (check it is not from shark cartilage), DMAE (ensure it is not from shark fat).  Many of these ingredients may provide a feeling of smoothness on the skin but if they are animal protein they do not penetrate and only work on the outer epidermis.  Beware, because with long-term use, many of the above have a steroid type of effect with thinning of the skin.  Watch out for hydroquinone being used in some ‘pigment’ products.

Why Medical Skin Care is Important

A reason why doctors had previously refused to entertain skin care products in their rooms was because ‘normal’ over the counter ‘cosmetics’, irrespective of price, ‘beautify’, soften and moisturize outer dead skin with no therapeutic action within the deeper layers, so are unable to ‘treat’ skin problems. ABOUT MESOTHERAPY

The word Mesotherapy is derived from the Greek word mesos, “middle”, and therapy from therapeia, “to treat medically”. The treatment consists of multiple injections of pharmaceutical and homeopathic medications – plant extracts, vitamins, and other ingredients just under the epidermis or deeper into the dermis.

Mesotherapy originated in France, where Dr Michael Pistor developed it in 1952. Dr Pistor had the idea of injecting a little medication and only a few times, exactly at the right place.

Veterinarians had used it since 1923 and traces of texts have been found mentioning “multi puncture” in ancient China, India and Egypt dating from 3600 BC. It has been officially recognised by the French “Académie de Medecine” in 1987 and is listed as a medical treatment by the state-run health care system in France

The medical benefits include improved blood flow to the area, dissolving excess fat deposits, removing fibrotic, hardened connective tissue and improving lymphatic drainage. It is highly effective in treating arthritis, joint and liver disorders. By puncturing the skin and injecting a little medication right below the surface in the affected area, (the needles used are only between 0,16 and 0,51 inches long), the substance does not have to pass through the blood, the liver and the stomach, resulting in the desired effects being far more powerful and quickly obtained.

When taken orally, the liver and stomach will destroy part of the drugs and other parts will diffuse everywhere in the body, which can cause undesired side effects and only a small amount will arrive in the required area. Furthermore, the amount of medication, either conventional or homeopathic, to be used can be greatly reduced; the quantity injected can be as little as only 1% of the quantity used in normal treatments, which again reduces the side-effects and also avoids the body becoming resistant to certain drugs.

Mesotherapy, when used for skin rejuvenation, infuses the dermis with potent vitamins and anti-oxidants to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin.

The results are skin that is firm, radiant, youthful and glowing. Initially a series of 2-4 treatments are performed a week apart. Results are maintained by twice a year touch-up sessions.

Many patients who develop unevenness, divots, or lumps after undergoing liposuction find that these areas can be successfully treated with Mesotherapy. The scar tissue that forms under the skin after liposuction is directly targeted and dissolved. Doctors are even combining Mesotherapy with Endermologie to maximise the results.

The Optima 518 is an apparatus used for hair removal and other skin treatments. It was developed by Active Optical Systems, incorporating knowledge and experience of more than 25 years in the market and awareness to the growing need to improve safety and client satisfaction.

The Optima 518 is different from other IPL machines and based upon Active’s patented GEM technology (Geometrical energy management). The Optima’s GEM technology is a unique way to deliver energy to a predetermined target. Unlike other IPL’s and lasers where the energy is scattered on the skin the GEM technology manages to concentrate the bulk of  the energy in a geometrical plane positioned under the skin. In Active’s GEM technology, the energy is distributed equally of a large area and temperature on the skin can be 70 c at most. This relatively low treatment temperature allows deep penetration of the light into the skin with no damage on top of it. The result is a superb hair removal treatment.

How does each treatment work ?

Permanent Hair Removal :

The undesired hair is removed by coagulation of the hair follicle. High intensity light is projected from the light source into the follicle and destroys it.

Skin Rejuvenation :

The specific light intensity stimulates cells to produce more collagen and elastic tissue synthesis, which results in the rejuvenation of the skin.

Acne :

Is it painful ?
