    Benifit of a Pedicure Treatment

Many of the ladies have long known the luxury of a spa pedicure, but could a pedicure actually have health benefits not only for the ladies, but for the men too?

Your feet take a beating, and if you happen to be carrying extra weight on your frame, your feet get the brunt of it. The average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day, which adds up to about 115,000 miles over a lifetime. Comparing in terms of cars, not every one will drive a car that has 115,000 miles, especially if it hasn’t been properly maintained.

Whether you go to a salon or do self pedicures, there are health benefits in properly maintaining your feet. Cutting, clipping and cleaning of the nails prevents nails from growing inward and causing infection. The elimination of dirt and bacteria from your feet will also help prevent nail diseases and disorders and helps eliminate foot odor.

Exfoliation, or the sloughing off of dead skin cells, prevents the cells from accumulating and causing bunions or corns, which can be painful. Removal of the dead skins cells also encourages newer skin cell growth which creates a smoother, more appealing foot.

The most enjoyable part of the salon pedicure is the massage. The lotion and/or oils used in the massage moisturize the newly exfoliated skin, and massaging promotes circulation in the calves and feet. It can reduce foot pain from being on one’s feet all day and can help maintain the health and performance of the muscles. And let’s face it, a nice time out for this pampering can reduce stress.

Nail color is optional. It is fun for the ladies and avoided by the men. Men, obviously you don’t have to get the color, but consider for a moment some of the fun you could have. If you’re a sports fan, you could have your nails painted like baseballs, basketballs, or soccer balls. You could even have them done as dice. (although it would be recommended to have the baby toe be the one and the big toe be the five.) You don’t have to leave it on, but imagine her surprise when you show up at home that night with a Superman logo on your toes?

Whether or not you get the color, the heath benefits of pedicures are not imagined and are a part of proper foot care. Gone are the days when this kind of foot care was only a luxury only for the ladies. Everyone deserves to take good care of their feet.

  • What is a Pedicure Treatment?

    What is a Pedicure?

A pedicure is a way to improve the appearance of the feet and their nails. It provides a similar service to a manicure. The word pedicure comes from the Latin words pedis, which means of the ankle, and cura, which means care. It also means the care of the feet and toenails. A pedicure can help prevent nail diseases and nail disorders. Pedicures are not just limited to nails; usually dead skin cells on the bottom of feet are rubbed off using a rough stone called a pumice stone. Additionally, leg care below the knee became a common and now expected service included in pedicures. Leg care includes depilation via either shaving or waxing followed by granular exfoliation, application of moisturizing creams, and a brief leg massage. Those at risk of blood clots should forgo leg massage.[citation needed]

    Physical benefit

Everyone knows that it feels nice to get a pedicure. Getting some extra time spent on pampering the toes and legs is always welcomed. Even the polished toenails look wonderful and make you feel so pleased with yourself. There are also physical benefits to getting a pedicure on a regular schedule. While your manicurist/pedicurist is working on your feet, they are doing more than just playing with your toes. By removing the dead skin and calluses with either pumice, or other implements, your pedicurist is helping to improve the appearance as well as your comfort. Having calluses on your feet can cause uneven pressure when you walk or stand that can also lead to the pain you feel when on your feet all day. Many pedicurists also use foot reflexology while giving pedicures. This helps stimulate the blood flow to the feet and legs and provides the relaxation you feel when someone is massaging. The massage in a pedicure or manicure is one of the most important parts. Massaging certain spots on someone’s foot sends signals to other parts of the body to encourage overall health improvement anywhere in the body. Depending on the amount of pressure, the area being worked on, and the ailment of concern you can see results from eyes to liver to solar plexus. In the case of spa pedicures with various scents there are additional benefits above and beyond the physical. It has been a studied for years that certain scents and oils can be beneficial for improving circulation, focus, memory and mood. Pedicures that incorporate scents often have several of these benefits included with them. The smell of lime invigorates the mind, sugar excites, vanilla relaxes. All of these may seem like simple scents you are paying more for but are actually making your pedicure great, instead of just good. Leaving the salon with pretty toes may seem like the only reward you get, but you are also gaining a good mood and better health. Besides, it never hurts to have pretty toes.
